Exceptional San Francisco home

about this home's

This elegant Edwardian home is located on a great block in the coveted Inner Richmond. The pristine white façade displays beautiful historical details, and up a flight of stairs there is a gracious covered entry landing. Inside is a lovely foyer with deep coat/storage closet, and a sophisticated formal living room, featuring a fireplace with wood mantle and a west-facing window bay. Period details abound throughout including hardwood flooring, picture rail and baseboard moldings, ceiling medallions, and intricate millwork. The living room opens to a spacious formal dining room, adorned with wallpaper, with windows facing east out to the deck and garden greenery.

Through a doorway in the dining room is the chef’s kitchen, equipped with stainless built-in microwave and oven, cooktop, sink, and dishwasher, as well as a center island, stone countertops, and stylish gray cabinetry finished with a high-end audio system. Off the main kitchen area is a large pantry with great built-in storage and countertop.  The kitchen flows into a sunny breakfast area, with a glass door to an expansive deck, perfect for BBQ’ing, and an adjoining family room with walls of windows facing east and south, bringing in great sunlight. The family room offers built-in shelving and a powder room for guests.

Up the main staircase, with ornately carved bannister, is the upper level, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The sizeable primary bedroom is located at the front of the home, presenting built-in wall sconces, a picturesque window bay, and a walk-in closet. An ensuite marble bath has a glass-enclosed shower, stacked Miele washer/dryer, and a skylight overhead. Two additional generous bedrooms share an attractive marble bathroom off the hallway with a shower over tub.

Accessed off the back deck is a fabulous backyard oasis, with pebbles framing a lush, sunny lawn and mature trees providing shade and privacy. Mature planting includes lemon and fig trees, cherimoya, pomegranate and blueberries. Off the backyard are two covered patio areas, and access to a separate (and legal) in-law suite. This cozy apartment would be perfect for in-laws, au pair or guests, and houses a bedroom looking out to the garden, a porcelain tile bathroom with shower, a kitchen with sink, refrigerator, microwave, stove, and hood, and a living room/family room with a closet and west-facing window bay. The family room has direct access to the roomy two-car (tandem) garage, with a stacked Samsung washer/dryer.

This wonderful family home is set in an ideal Inner Richmond location, less than two blocks from Golden Gate Park and all its fantastic trails, playgrounds and amenities. It is convenient to great dining and shops on Balboa and Clement streets, with Safeway around the corner.

626 5th Avenue

Well known for its pockets of Russian and Chinese culture, there is always something unique to explore in the Inner Richmond District. Much like the Outer District, you will find similar row houses along the hilly streets. With / Golden Gate Park, Presidio, and plenty of local attractions and food all within a mile radius of the Inner Richmond District, there is never a dull moment in this vibrant Bay Area neighborhood.

When Inner Richmond residents are craving an amazing meal, they will usually head over to Clement Street. Sandwiched in between Geary and Balboa Street, Clement Street’s notable local restaurants include:
Burma Superstar: Plenty of incredible Asain fusion cuisine can be found at this small, popular restaurant.
Eats: Short on space but big on flavor, Eats features some amazing breakfast options that will jumpstart your morning.
Halu Restaurant: If you love ramen and other Japanese staples, this is a must-visit.
Arsicault Bakery: Heralded by Sunset Magazine as having the best croissant in San Francisco, you will also find plenty of other savory/sweet baked goods.

Just north of the Inner Richmond District you will find Mountain Lake Park. Located near the southwest section of Presidio, residents and tourists love to ride bikes or run/walk along the lake. Mountain Lake Park also offers many of the amenities you’d expect from a park: off-leash dog area, tennis/basketball courts, a playground, and picnic areas. Living in Inner Richmond also provides easy access to one of San Francisco’s most popular golf courses. Presidio Golf Course’s entrance is located near the intersection of Arguello and Pacific; once you arrive, you will be treated to a majestic forest-lined golf course. Afterwards, you can enjoy a refreshing beverage and food inside their beautiful clubhouse.

The Presidio and its 1000-plus acres of space have more to offer than parks and golf courses. The headquarters of both Disney and Industrial Lights and Magic are located near the northeast corner, and employees of either can enjoy a morning or afternoon walk to and from work. As the area continues its revitalization, there’s no telling what fun and adventure will be available in Presidio in the years to come!
